More BBM-connected apps on the way

RIM said that the upcoming updates for the Facebook and Twitter apps for BlackBerry as well as the BlackBerry Travel and BlackBerry App World 3.2.1 applications will come with BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) integration.

This is aimed at making it easier for users to stay in touch with their contacts, share experiences and content, and discover new things from their BBM community, RIM said.

With the BBM-connected Facebook and Twitter applications, users are able to automatically share their statuses or tweets with their BBM friends.

BlackBerry Travel users can share their travel plans and flight changes directly with selected BBM contacts or with their entire BBM community.

When using the App World, users can share information about their favourite app or a list of their installed apps with friends using the BlackBerry Tag function. Take note, however, that Tag feature requires an NFC-enabled BlackBerry smartphone running BlackBerry 7.1 or higher.

RIM also announced it will introduce a new update for BBM, which will offer an enhanced and more personal experience. New features will include the ability to select animated avatars, a simpler way to update personal messages in profiles as well quickly send voice notes.

These apps are expected to be made available for download over the next ten days on BlackBerry App World.
