Name & shame lists torn off
Lists of shops that rip off customers were pasted on the walls of the shopping centre, but unknown culprits have been tearing these lists down.

SINGAPORE - There is a new type of ripping off going on at Sim Lim Square.

Some shops there are known for overcharging. One customer was recently overcharged by more than $1,000 for a computer game set.

So lists of these shops were pasted on the walls at the shopping centre.

But now, unknown culprits have been ripping shame lists off the walls.

The list of errant retailers is the latest salvo from the Consumers Association of Singapore (Case) to warn customers about the black sheep of Sim Lim Square, which has around 400 shops.

Case and Singapore Tourism Board (STB) have worked with the building management, alerting shoppers to retailers who give honest service through the CaseTrust accreditation and "STARetailer" schemes.

This month, instead of just recognising who's nice, the consumer watchdog produced a list naming 10 shops which received the most complaints.

You cannot stop people to be conned. Since Sim Lim has a reputation already, the customers should be more cautious themselves.

Putting up the list doesn't help at all and seriously, nobody will bother to see.

Case should put up a a proper signage of itself & list the culprits on its web page too . Instal a camera focusing on its posting & get the culprit for vandalizing .

;) those delinquent shops who resort to trickery and anyhow 乱乱来, of course it is wrong to do such things and operate that way but we wonder who they're trying to emulate, which authority have always done things this way for them to follow and think that it is ok to do such things and get away with it because even some government do it and give stupid excuses when they're confronted so what is wrong if they follow too? ;)
